10:30 pm: Because I am so consistently inconisistent...
I've decided to hide all the previous reviews of movies I've written because I feel like I've given too much praise to too many films. Shared praise is diminishing and all that. Not that the films I loved weren't good, just that some really aren't four star material and all that crap.

So, just check back here for my NEW listings of film reviews based on the reviews I've given on my new radio show @ blogtalkradio.com

Gran Torino «««½
I Love You, Man «««
Taken «««
Watchmen «« (after initial rating of ««½)

03:57 pm: Why so serious?

Anybody remember when Heath Ledger was announced as The Joker and pretty much everybody thought it was a bad idea? I did, and I did. I really thought it was a bad idea when in came out. Then I saw the TEASER a few months ago and his mere VOICE had me prepared to eat crow.

Well... I've seen the TRAILER, and I am fucking FEASTING on crow right now.

"Let's put a SMILE on that face!"

11:38 pm: The Other Side of High School and College Reading

I believe that I have spoken many times to my friends about how I absolutely hated The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Catcher In The Rye by JD Salinger, and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achibe, but I don't think I've ever given a list of books I have actually EMJOYED reading in High School or College.

Fiction:
*Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya
*Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
*The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein
*The Island Of The Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
*Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
*The River by Gary Paulsen
*Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen
*Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers
*Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
*The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin
*Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
Non-Fiction:

*The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother by James McBride
*The Illusion of Victory: America in World War I by Thomas J. Fleming
*America Afire: Jefferson, Adams, and the First Contested Election by Bernard A. Weisberger

There you have it. Now I can't be known as a CONSTANT complainer.
